Cody Bower thinks he and his husband, Demetrius, have marriage and monster-hunting down to a science. Until, that is, people start disappearing and they both begin taking dangerous risks to dig into the reasons why. Meanwhile, on the outskirts of town, a bar, unfamiliar to both of them and older than any resident of Parson's Hollow, may hold the answers neither of them want but both of them need.

A new enemy has been at work in the shadows, making frightening new inroads to the general population and building up their forces. As the attacks grow more personal, unexpected allies make themselves known, helping to potentially even the scales when Parson's Hollow once again finds itself under attack, with only the Critter Catchers and their found family of amateur monster hunters standing in the way.
