Edwards crafts a clever mystery out of what could have been a hackneyed excuse to simply string together sex scenes. Instead, he works the mystery angle, and Charlie is in the perfect, ahem, position to suss out who has it out for the company.

Edwards, whose stories have been featured in Honcho, seems to relish the opportunity to finally tear into a full-fledged erotic novel, and he doesn’t waste a page.

It was with a short story series in mind that Hank Edwards began work on what was to become the novel Fluffers, Inc., which is not at all related to the movie The Fluffer. Fluffers, Inc. is, instead, the tale of naive, slightly klutzy Charlie Heggensford who moves to Los Angeles from a dairy farm in upstate Idaho and becomes a fluffer for hire to gay porn studios. A little too good at his job, Charlie over-stimulates the actors he is assigned to arouse and finds himself in trouble not only with his boss but several porn directors as well. Hank's partner encouraged him to gather the chapters into a book rather than try to sell them off to a magazine as a serialized story, and a star, albeit a minor one, was born.
